
1 banana (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup oats
1 cup spinach (fresh or frozen)
2 tbs ground flaxseed
App. 2 cups almond milk
Optional (for an extra protein kick) 3 tbs hulled hemp seeds
Blend until smooth. Best to drink immediately as the ground flax seed will gelatinize if you let it sit too long.
This smoothie has become one of my go-to breakfasts. It’s great to drink before a work out (I cannot work out on an empty stomach!) It’s great for pregnancy/pre-pregnancy because it provides the following important pregnancy nutrients:
Folate: 174 mcg
Fiber: 15 g
Iron: 2.6 mg
